7 tools to improve business

At the very foundation of every good business, lays good decisions AND good investments. When I started my business in 2020, all I thought I needed was a laptop and Wi-Fi, but as I was growing I would invest in every tool out there that (in my mind) was going to help me scale my business. It took a few years until I realized not every single platform is good for you and, more often than not, less is more. In this blog post, I will share with you what these tools are and how they improved my business drastically!

Take your designs to the next level with a Canva Pro subscription

While I think the free version of Canva is more than enough to get started on your business, it can get very limiting as time goes by and you need more features.

As a former web and brand designer I always felt the pressure to use other software such as Photoshop and Illustrator, but I still needed Canva to design templates for clients. Upgrading to the Pro version allowed me to re-create some really beautiful designs that were accessible to non-designer clients.

And to be fair, now that I don’t do design work anymore, I use Canva for everything! In and out of business. From business cards and presentations to PDF and travel itineraries.

A good laptop will improve the overall health of your business

The computer I had when I started my business was a super lightweight and slim Lenovo I bought In Singapore in 2018 to check my emails, write blog posts and look at my travel pictures.

That poor little guy didn’t know we were in for a wild ride!

After installing some more serious software and finally growing my business, it just died one day.

I upgraded to my Lenovo Yoga 7i and I’m having the best of both worlds. Slim, lightweight yet powerful, touchscreen and turns into a tablet if needed 😉

7 tools that improved my business

An all-in-one business hub platform

I tried all of the platforms, seriously! They all made sense for the single task I needed to achieve but they were all separate platforms. I had Trello, Asana, ClickUp, Monday… you name it, I have tried it.

Then I found Notion and I could finally put everything together. From social media calendars to quarter planning and team meeting notes, Notion has something for everyone.

Notion was definitely one of the tools that improved my business. I even host one of my digital offers there, my Essential Brand Toolkit!

Start your email marketing journey with a platform that can grow with you

Again, how many email marketing platforms exist out there? 100s if not 1000s of them. So I know how tough it can be to make a decision. If you are yet to start your email list and are feeling frozen by the abundance of choices, this is the best advice I have for you: narrow it down to a few platforms and take their free trials.

This is also what I did and ended up going with MailerLite. It was the only platform that made sense and I could visually see what was happening, which was so helpful when I was learning about automation, segments and timed campaigns.

Plus, I had MailerLite for 2 years and I’m only paying now that I have over 1k subscribers, so it was definitely a good investment for my business!

Design beautiful websites with no coding!

This was probably one of the first investments I have ever made in my business that also resulted in signing more clients during my web design days.

Elementor is a drag-and-drop web builder that can help you design beautiful and responsive websites in no time. I stayed on the free version long enough to know I needed this in my business!

If you use WordPress, then this is the web builder you should have!

Speaking of websites, another great investment was a good hosting provider that wouldn’t slow my website and would work for me. Since I switched to Siteground, my website has never been down and has always been quick and trusted by other platforms.

Remember that your website is the home of your business! Put some love (and money) into it because you KNOW it’s worth it!

Automate ALL of your marketing material with ONE platform

Yes! You can do this! Tailwind can be used for every single social media platform out there. Although I am sure many other platforms can do this, what I love about Tailwind is how easy it is to schedule in advance, especially when it comes to Pinterest.

Thanks to Tailwind, I was able to Pinterest account to the next level while welcoming new subscribers and new clients.

This might look different for you of course and it heavily depends on how you market your business. For me, email marketing, blogging and collabs/speaking events are the main ways I market my business.

Using Tailwind allows me to schedule Pinterest pins for my blog posts to all of my boards in a non-spammy way, months in advance. This means I get almost daily new subscribers to my Branding Quiz and other freebies solely based on Pinterest and SEO.

Give it a try and you’ll be hooked 😉
